About Us - Our Leadership
ACCESS is an independent nonprofit educational institution governed by a volunteer board of directors. The Executive Director reports directly to the board of directors. Each member of the team is a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a mature ministry leader in the local Christian church. The biographical information of the current board and executive director follows:
Mr. Mark Buhl currently works as an information technology director for CSC, an IT outsourcing provider, supervising a staff of approximately one hundred twenty employees. He currently serves as the President of the board of ACCESS.
Mr. Brian C. Laird is the founder and president of Solus Development, Inc., an information technology consulting firm located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. He serves as Vice President and Treasurer of the ACCESS board.
Mrs. Lisa Carr is an independent consultant, providing credit unions with training, marketing and business development services. Lisa is also a literacy volunteer, helping adults learn to read, write and understand English. She and her husband Bryant live in West Dundee, Illinois. Lisa serves as the Secretary on the Board of Directors.
Mrs. Amy Buhl is currently serving as ACCESS' Executive Director. Mrs. Buhl has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Nutrition. Her experience home-schooling their autistic son, her efforts researching educational, therapeutic, and medical treatments for him and her dedication to helping special needs parents uniquely qualify her to serve ACCESS well.
Mr. Phil Lundquist is currently serving as the ACCESS Program Director. Mr. Lundquist received a Bachelors of Arts in English at Loyola University in Chicago in 1994 and later went on to get a Masters of Science in Special Education at Northern Illinois University. He has taught students ranging from kindergarten to adult as a special education teacher and educational therapist for the past ten years in both Christian and public schools. Currently Phil works at Franklin Middle School in Wheaton and is pursuing a master’s degree in educational leadership at Aurora University. Phil is the head teacher for the ACCESS Pilot Program.
